Considering the plethora of benefits that CBD is bringing to the lives of its users, we’ve decided to look at the ancillary benefits of CBD, as well as the known medicinal advantages. In this post, we’re exploring how CBD can improve your work performance.

CBD is a short form for Cannabidiol, a substance derived from the hemp plant. For some people, the mention of hemp or cannabis comes with the thought of being stoned or high. CBD is certainly not responsible for the psychoactive effect of Cannabis, it is Tetrahydrocannabinol, THC, another substance derived from the hemp family. Today (as with most of our posts), we are talking about CBD.

There are different kinds of work each with its own stressors and pain points: many construction workers suffer from back or joint pain, office workers are suffering from stress and anxiety, a public speaker or teacher could be having confidence issues, to name but a few.

How does CBD help?

The body has a system dedicated to maintaining homeostasis (balance of body and mind), the Endocannabinoid system (ECS). This system plays a significant role in the regulation of different functions of your body including anxiety, appetite, pain, memory, and sleep.

To carry out its regulatory roles, the ECS has receptors in which substances called Cannabinoids bind. Some of these Cannabinoids are produced by your own body (Endocannabinoids) and others are produced externally (in Hemp plants) - CBD being one of such.

So, why are so many CBD users reporting unexpected improvements in their work performance?

Reduces inflammation and pain

If you’re in a desk-based role, you may find yourself sitting in uncomfortable positions throughout the day, bad posture can also be a major source of discomfort here.  Today, with so many of us commuting less and travelling less for work, we are spending more time than ever in front of our screens, static. With many of us working from home, we may not be using the ideal chair or desk that our office space used to provide, with many of us hunkered over the dining table or dresser.

All these rigid positions can cause pains in your neck and body aches.

If you are a physical worker, or on your feet all day long, parts of your body can get sore from continuous use or strain.

CBD is an anti-inflammatory compound. Studies have shown that it helps reduce inflammation and pain including chronic pain and arthritis pain. It can be an effective tool in the armoury of any worker.

Anxiety and Lack of Confidence

There is always something to be anxious about in the workplace. You may have deadlines, a big presentation, a meeting with a new big client, a difficult boss, and so on. Without a doubt, all of these things leave you with worries that can make you lose your confidence and reduce your productivity.

You could get medication to reduce your anxiety and lack of confidence but these have many unwanted side effects such as drowsiness, insomnia, headache, etc., all of which are bound to compound your problems. However, if you would like to use something natural, CBD might be a good option. Studies have shown that CBD can be helpful in treating anxiety and act as an antidepressant

Stress Management

Stress due to work has a way of sapping your energy levels and your motivation, hence reducing productivity. The stress you go to every day at work is inevitable. Having understood this, stress management becomes the only way to go to prevent the adverse long-term effects on your health and wellbeing including neurodegenerative diseases.

Studies have shown that CBD may have properties that can help with oxidative stress and physical stress. Taking CBD Oil drops under the tongue 2-3 times a day should help you manage your daily stresses.

Improves your sleep

If you are not in charge of your work hours, sleep issues will be detrimental to your productivity. You find yourself nodding on your desk and lagging in your work schedule. When you are tired you are simply less productive.

A distorted sleep cycle puts you at the risk of problems such as migraine, depression, high blood pressure, etc. Although scientists are still researching how CBD may help with sleep, there have been studies that show the immensely positive effects of CBD on sleep.

Clarity of Mind

There is that time of the day where many of us begin to flag, some people find it difficult to get going in the morning, whereas many early rises struggle to keep their brain active later in the afternoon. If you are creative workers, you will understand this as the creative block.

CBD’s effects on the neurons come in handy here. It may be the reason why many use it to help them relax, improve their function as well as get back in their work mood. A clear mind allows you to focus at work and CBD has been shown, in recent research, to help you focus and attenuate motivational dysfunction effects. This is why CBD is becoming so popular as an aid for meditation.

Conclusion

Work is accompanied by different problems that can affect your productivity including sleep problems, anxiety, lack of confidence, body pains, stress, lack of focus etc. CBD Oil is a natural substance that is proven to help with many of the functions needed to keep us on the top of our game.
