Generally speaking, CBD oil for pets is the same as cannabidiol (CBD) for people-the biggest difference with our pet products is that our Pet Tinctures taste like bacon! In fact, most people don't realize that the same CBD that has shown to be effective with humans is similarly effective for animals.

In fact, every single mammal on the planet has a built-in Endocannabinoid system (more on that later). While most of us pet owners love our fur babies as much as our actual offspring and want to give them the best possible care, many are finding that they are also able to increase the quality of their pets' lives, by incorporating CBD into their routine also.

And thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill, the U.S. government has made industrial hemp and all of its derivatives legal in the United States of America (USA) for use or consumption. As a result, entities like the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have gotten involved to monitor and provide regulation to the CBD industry, to ensure your pooch is getting the safest wellness products possible.

Our CBD pet treats and tinctures are made without peanut butter (to avoid potential allergies), so the benefits of CBD for pets are clear, providing relief from pent up stress, anxiety, and even alleviating issues of mobility and pain through its effective anti-inflammatory properties.

Made with non-GMO, broad-spectrum CBD with non-detectable levels of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)-our pet CBD Oil is vegan, made with human-grade ingredients, free of harmful additives, composed of purified organic hemp oil, and bookended with a tasty, all-natural bacony finish.

The Bond Between Pets And Cannabis

The relationship between cannabis and pets is an old one, too. For centuries, farmers have used hemp products in their feed-albeit, not in a concentrated form. At CBD Medical we're proud to offer our premium Pet CBD Tinctures to all quality-mindful pet owners.

CBD is a natural compound that comes from the hemp plant, specifically the cannabis Sativa plant. These CBD compounds are non-psychoactive and have a strong focus on therapeutic benefits for an array of issues and concerns.

THC-free* CBD Oil comes from hemp plants after they reach full maturity and are ready for harvest. This is when CBD Oils come to life, specifically, full-spectrum CBD, broad-spectrum CBD, and CBD isolates.

Want to know what the difference is between the CBD Oil you and your pet take, and the CBD Oil your cat takes?

In most cases, it's the concentration of the oil. Since our cats are much smaller than us, they don't need the same amount. Also, most pet tinctures contain a flavour component they can't resist-similar to humans and CBD gummies-and that's thanks to their body's natural endocannabinoid system...

*Note - Broad-spectrum CBD holds non-detectable amounts of THC below the threshold of the 0.3% required by the US, UK and EU Authorities.

What Is The Endocannabinoid System?

Ever wonder what the Endocannabinoid system is?

We've got the answer.

The term Endocannabinoid System combines the root word "endo" meaning within, and the word "cannabinoid" referring to the body's internal nervous system that interacts with the other many and various different Cannabinoids like CBD and THC.

The Endocannabinoid System is a natural nervous system found in the bodies of all mammals, including your furry family members. Both the body's central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system are integral to the Endocannabinoid System (ECS).

An added factor of the ECS is the gastrointestinal tract-responsible for digestion and nutrient extraction. This is where food is broken down and used as energy or excess fat.

The final part of the ECS is the immune system; the body's natural defence against harmful pathogens or bacterium. When these foreign substances enter the body, the immune system attacks them immediately, helping to stave off viral infections and disease.

All and all, the ECS regulates a number of bodily functions, including balance, coordination, activation & suppression of appetite, heart rate, and overall mood.

Why Does My Pet Need CBD Oil?

To put it simply, the CBD benefits. Due to the fact that CBD has the ability to directly affect the Endocannabinoid System-which again is responsible for regulating various physiological effects in the body-the potential for CBD to benefit humans, as well as our pets, is huge.

With CBD currently being studied for its effects on regulating mood, reducing inflammation and pain, and reducing overall anxiety and depression, the potential benefits of CBD are promising for us and our furry friends.

What Size Pet Tincture Does My Pet Need?

While our pet CBD Oil comes in three distinct concentrations-250mg, 500mg, and 1000mg-each is designed to appeal to animals of different sizes from small breed dogs and cats to medium dogs, and finally very large dogs like German Shepherds and Great Danes.

Although there are several ways to introduce your pet to CBD Oil, one of the traditional ways is to simply let them consume it from the dropper directly. However, if you want to incorporate their CBD consumption by spreading a few drops on their food or treats, the choice is yours.

What Makes CBD Pet Tinctures Good For My Pet?

To be frank we aren't the only CBD company with CBD Oil products in the pet market. There are a variety of brands out there offering pet treats and tinctures designed to enhance the quality of life of your pet and spread the benefits of CBD.

However, it's in our production process that our products stand alone.

Whether it's CBD Oil for dogs or CBD oil for cats, we believe your pets deserve the highest-quality CBD Oil on the planet, which is exactly why we utilize some of the best ingredients in the world in formulating our products.

To start, our organic, industrial-grade hemp is grown right here in the United States right in the heart of Kentucky. We do this because the soil there is clean, chemical-free, and because it keeps our nation's farmers doing what they do best.

Each of our stalks is selected by master hemp growers, and when the best of the best are determined, we grind them up into a pulp and ready them for extraction. Using the CO2-extraction method due to its cleanliness in deriving highly purified CBD oil, and its energy efficiency for a healthier planet-we blend our organic, hemp oil with the beneficial carrier oil, MCT oil.

After creating the initial batch, we send our oil to third-party manufacturers that use Current Good Manufacturing Practices (CGMP) to produce Grade A hemp products under some of the strictest quality standards in the world.

But to ensure our CBD oil for pets is high-quality, we don't stop there. We then send our finished products to a third-party lab for testing. These unbiased entities test and re-test our products under strict conditions, then we stamp their findings directly beside our products on our website so that you can verify their quality yourself.

As a result, you can verify the exact CBD% in all our products are free from harmful toxins, solvents, chemicals, heavy metals, and other impurities.

And we do this all to ensure that whether it's you or your pet consuming our CBD products, you'll only be putting the absolute cleanest and most effective CBD Oil into your and their bodies.

At B Well CBD we believe your dog or cat should have and deserves the best and purest CBD possible.

How Much CBD Should I Give My Pets?

The amount of CBD you give your pets will depend almost entirely on their size. For example, if you have a small breed dog or cat (less than 20lbs), you'll want to use our CBD Pet Tinctures for Small Breed Dogs.

If your pet is medium-sized (20-60lbs), we have a medium-sized tincture for them. And so on for large breed dogs (60+ lbs), as well.

When administering CBD Oil to your pet, you'll also want to gauge their reaction to the amount you give them. If you give them a few drops and aren't noticing a change in their behaviour, it may be wise to increase the amount of CBD drops you give them.

However, if you notice their behaviour is a bit exaggerated after digesting some of our CBD pet tinctures, you may want to reduce the overall amount they consume.

With anything you give your pets, you'll want to consider their size. A 10-pound calico cat will act differently taking our large-breed CBD concentration, compared to a 65-pound golden retriever taking our small-breed CBD tincture.

If you have any questions regarding dosing for specific pets, don't hesitate to reach out to us with your questions.

How Does CBD Work On Pets?

If you're curious about giving CBD to your pets, you're probably wondering how it works on them.

Thanks to the body's Endocannabinoid System, your pet is able to enjoy the benefits of CBD Oil the same as you. As we've mentioned before, the ECS is a complex and incredible biological system-one that all mammals inherently possess.

As a consequence, this system plays a significant role in the body's primary functions regulating everything from sleep, mood, reproduction, pain, immunity, and much more. The basis for these interactions is that Endocannabinoids (cannabinoids) and the brain's receptors work together to produce a variety of physiological effects on the body.

For example, the CB1 and the CB2 receptors of the body sit atop cells waiting for neurotransmitters to attach to them, signalling a need for action, or homeostasis. The CB1 receptors are in charge of the brain and nervous system function.

The CB2 receptors are primarily there for the immune system, sustaining and levels of inflammation and immune responses to pathogens.

Thankfully, we all have an ECS system-me, you, the dog, the cat, and believe it or not, even other animal life forms like sea urchins. This means we're all capable of taking advantage of CBD in some capacity successfully and enjoying the benefits of CBD Oil.

The Science Behind CBD Oil

Hemp has been around for thousands of years, dating back to millennia where it was used in teas, paper, clothing, and more.

As time has progressed, our knowledge of hemp and the products it can be used to make have evolved, as well. Today, we now know that the cannabis plant contains over 100 different compounds, all boasting different, yet similar effects on the body.

These compounds are called Cannabinoids, or Phytocannabinoids.

The chemical compounds we're most familiar with are THC and CBD. However, we're learning more about the other minor cannabinoid compounds such as CBN, CBG, and others every day. A significant variation between the hemp plant and the marijuana plant is the products that they create.

While the hemp plant contains a lower ratio of THC to CBD-the hemp plant contains less than 0.3% THC in full-spectrum products and is non-detectable with 0.01% with our broad-spectrum pet products -while the marijuana crops and products created from them contain more than 30% THC or higher in some cases.

It's important to remember that while you or I may enjoy the effects of higher amounts of THC in our Cannabis products (legally, of course), our pets are different. Not only are they highly sensitive to THC but higher levels of this in their products can actually be unpleasant for them.

So, with this in mind, always make sure you're looking at a hemp-based pet product that has minimal amounts of THC. This way, your pet won't be freaked out by the psychoactive effects of THC.

Do Pets Like CBD?

While it's impossible to directly ask a dog or cat whether they like a certain substance, you can often tell by their physical excitement if they're enjoying their treat.

In the case of CBD oil, and based on the physical effects that it provides, the ability to relax an animal who's typically worked up by loud noises, our absence, delivery trucks, or people walking by, CBD can provide a wave of relaxing calm.

This sense of calm relieves pent up stress and frustration within your dog or cat and actively improves their quality of life.

These benefits can be quite enjoyable for your pet and for you and thus can be considered "likeable" by your dog or cat.

If your pet has issues with separation, it's likely they'll experience a deep range of anxious emotions when left alone throughout the day. However, with CBD, you'll be giving them a soothing blanket of cannabinoids to keep them chill while you're out on those days for eight hours or more.

Is It Safe To Give My Dog CBD?

As we mentioned before, our hemp-based CBD products contain less than 0.01% THC* and are considered non-detectable, so it's safe to say that CBD oil is harmless to your dog.

How To Shop For High-Quality Pet CBD

Our pets are important to us.

As a result, we put a lot of attention into what we're feeding them or giving them, so it's important to find the best products out there.

When looking for high-quality CBD products, you should be looking for companies that organically source their hemp and support their quality with third-party labs on the label. Organically sourced hemp is critical because it's the foundation for a quality product.

Adding to that, third-party lab results are just as important because they allow you to confirm the quality and strength of the product you're vetting.

Typically, you can find these reports on the product's page that host a separate link to the lab results of all the products on the site.

You'll also want to check to make sure the product doesn't have pesticides, mycotoxins, or heavy metals. It's also a good idea to check product reviews, as well.

What was their experience like? Would they purchase it again? These types of questions play a vital role in the decision-making process.

We recommend that you consider broad-spectrum products for your pets as opposed to full spectrum to limit the amount of THC they are exposed to.

When Should You Give CBD To Your Pet?

Mealtime
When you're ready to sit down and eat, why not treat your dog, as well. Since pets tend to look at you when you're eating food anyway, why not give them a treat that calms them down, as well, when it's time for them to sit down and eat their own meals.

By giving your pooch or kitty a few drops at their twice a day mealtime, not only will you be helping them focus on their own food instead of yours.

After Walking/Playing
Even when we give our dogs-or even cats-some good exercise inside or out, the effect can sometimes ramp up energy levels further. After spending some time getting their muscles moving through exercise and play, it's a good idea to give them a nice amount of CBD to help alleviate joint pain in older dogs, calm the nerves of overly excitable dogs and get them back to "inside mode."

Training
When you're training your pet, you want to get them on a clear reward system. Thankfully, because of the inherent benefits of CBD oil and its attractive taste, your pet will be willing to do anything you ask for a few drops of our delicious bacon tinctures! Trust us, they make the best dog treats or cat treats after a job well done!

Bathtime
If there's one thing that's true about dogs-and especially cats-it's that they most hate baths. So, in order to get your pet ready for a bathtime even when they don't want to, you'll need to entice them with a proper treat/reward. That's where a good CBD Oil tincture for pets comes in, and with a few drops, not only will they be more relaxed in preparation for bath time, but happier, too.

Before Bed
As we mentioned above, not all pets are properly chilled out before bed. That means that by the time you're ready to lay your head down and get some rest, doggo is jumping on the bed ready to play. So, if you want to get your dog nice, calm, and sleepy when the lights go out, try giving them a few drops of our latest CBD Pet Tinctures!

Grooming Trips
Add this to the list of pet complaints: grooming trips! Some dogs may love going to the groomers but many dogs are understandably sketched out. If you want to keep your dog nice, limber, and calm when it's time to be primed and pressed, give them a few drops of our CBD Oil for a dose of instant stress relief.

Facts To Remember About CBD For Pets

Dogs Have An Endocannabinoid System Too

Before you give your dog CBD oil, it's important to remember that all mammals have an Endocannabinoid system. This
system functions to maintain homeostasis in the body by sending signals to the CB1 and CB2 receptors. These receptors are inside the cells looking out for that particular area of the body to make sure it's on track and functioning as it should be.

For example, the CB1 receptor maintains the gastrointestinal tract, brain, muscles, lungs, vascular system, and reproductive system.

While the CB2 receptors maintain the spleen, skin, bones, and lungs.

Together, the CB1 and CB2 receptors work to maintain the liver, pancreas, gallbladder, bone marrow, and brain stem.

Overall, the relationship between the Cannabinoids, Endocannabinoid System, and the CB1 and CB2 receptors is the driving force of the effectiveness of the CBD product, and allow the introduction of CBD into the body to create a range of physiological benefits for both dogs, cats, and humans.

They Won't Experience A "High"

While some owners are hesitant to give their dog CBD because they think it might make them feel high or out of their comfort zone. It's important to remember that CBD doesn't possess enough THC content to allow dogs to get "high."

As we mentioned earlier, broad-spectrum CBD, by definition, contains less than 0.01% THC*, which is considered non-detectable.

So, no, your dog won't experience any intoxicating effects.

CBD Works Well With A Training System

It's no surprise that pets like treats. So, if you want to train your pet with some of the most "intoxicating" treats (non-pun intended) for pets, make sure you grab a bottle of our Pet CBD Oil Tincture and use it as a calming reward between commands.

Makes Social Interactions For Pets Easier

We could all use a little more "chill" in our lives. Our pets included. So when you're ready to take your pooch to the dog park and you know that he/she has issues with aggression. A little CBD might help even out their moods and make them more amenable to interacting with other pets.

Not only will this wipe away any potential embarrassment from your dog acting up, but will make your dog have a much more enjoyable time at the park than feeling on edge from other furry friends in their space.

Can Owning A Dog Improve Your Health?

Owning a dog is one of the uniquely human things we have. And dogs are great. They're cute, dependant, and you can pour love into them unconditionally.

According to Gallup, nearly 3 in 4 Americans like dogs, and that's why many views their pets as members of their family.

Historically for more than 30,000 years, humans have tamed and befriended dogs for both utility protection and hunting prowess as well as companionship.

And there are a ton of additional benefits to consider, as well.

They Give Us Companionship

Did you know that most Americans own a pet? And the majority of those pets are dogs.

Dogs-big or small-have a real impact on our lives. For kids at home, a large breed dog can double as a guard dog. It also gives them their first look at being responsible for another life.

On protection, whether it's mom or the kids alone at the house, dogs are an integral part of the family dynamic.

And for women or men living alone, dogs can be great for an added sense of protection-perhaps even more so than owning a firearm.

For the elderly where social isolation is a common issue, having a small dog to look after and care for can be a life-saving responsibility.

In general, dogs are great companions, for both their presence and their utility.

Dogs Can Improve Our Overall Health

Dogs also provide a variety of health benefits to us.

According to the CDC, dog owners experienced...

  • Increased opportunities to exercise, get outside and socialize.
  • Decreased blood pressure, cholesterol, and triglyceride levels.
  • Lower levels of loneliness and depression.

Thankfully, owning a dog isn't all that expensive, either. Some estimates from Harvard saying that owning a dog can cost anywhere from $500-$1600 a year.

That's less than the annual cost of a therapist.

Dog ownership can have a host of physiological reactions that cause stress, anxiety, and depression to be reduced. This means that a calmer and more mentally healthy life can literally help you live longer.

In fact, owning a dog can positively correlate with an increased life expectancy. They can also expose young people to potential allergies early on to build up inherent immunities.

They Give Us A Sense Of Purpose

A sense of responsibility is incredibly important to us. In many ways, it's what gives our lives meaning.

As a result, owning a dog can provide a clear sense of purpose for those that need more purpose in their lives. When we choose to purchase or adopt a dog, it's very much like having or adopting a child.

Dogs depend on us for safety and food, and it's our responsibility to ensure they're living a happy and fulfilling life. And it's these kinds of considerations of a dog's wellbeing that are the hallmarks of a good owner.

The relationship between humans and dogs is one as old as civilization itself.

And more than furry little companions we choose to feed, shelter, and give love dogs are the closest thing we have to a therapist-and more natural than prescription medications.

Thanks to the fact that dogs can reduce feelings of stress, anxiety, and depression, dogs have and continue to save more lives than we know.

So why not give them a special treat for their efforts?
